Internship Program in Singapore

The NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) Inbound programme

Singapore stands as Asia's largest startup hub and a prominent destination for startup investments. This program is an initiative of the National University of Singapore (NUS) that offers a "6-month paid internship program" allowing participants to gain experience through internships at Singaporean startups while learning about entrepreneurship at one of the world's leading universities in Asia.

Program Details

6-month Paid Internship at Singapore’s high-growth and innovative startups

Nagoya University is the ONLY Japanese University that can participate in this programme

Doctoral and master's students, as well as 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students, can participate. International students are also welcome to join.

Students who meet the eligibility criteria will receive a JASSO scholarship.

Summation Highlights

The NUS Overseas Colleges programme
(NOC Nagoya, Japan)

Nagoya, Japan, is a manufacturing hub, home to major companies like Toyota, Denso, Mitsubishi, Subaru,  and Brother Industries in automotive, aviation, and robotics. The city is transforming with advances in digital technology, including AI, IoT, big data, and 5G, which are promoting open innovation and collaboration. This program offers participants internships at startups in Nagoya, providing hands-on experience in this exciting high-tech environment.

ARAP offers PhD students a unique opportunity to conduct research for 1 to 2 years at ASTAR’s world-class research institutes in Singapore. Under joint supervision by ASTAR researchers and your home university faculty, you will work on cutting-edge projects across diverse fields including biomedical sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and frontier AI research.

Eligibility

PhD students holding at least a bachelor’s degree with Second-Class (Upper) Honours or equivalent

博士後期課程(学士号は2等上級相当以上を有すること)

Students must be nominated jointly by your home university supervisor and an A*STAR researcher with whom collaborative research is planned

名古屋大学の指導教員とA*STAR研究者による共同研究体制が組まれていることが必須

English proficiency is expected, although formal tests are not required

英語能力は必須ですが、正式な英語試験の提出は不要

How to Apply

Step 1: Discuss possible collaborations with A*STAR researchers listed in the supervisor directory.

Step 2: A*STAR and your university faculty prepare a joint project proposal.

A*STARおよび名古屋大学の教員が共同で研究プロジェクト提案書を作成

Step 3: Project approval is sought from A*STAR Research Institutes and your university.

A*STAR研究機関および名古屋大学でプロジェクト承認を取得

Step 4: Students are shortlisted and invited to apply.

学生を選考し、応募者を募集

Step 5: Final nomination of students is submitted to A*GA through the ARAP nomination form.
