This is a project where 15 students from 6 faculties at Nagoya University are taking the lead in planning and producing a T-shirt that allows people to "wear their pride and memories of Meidai (Nagoya University) in their daily lives." Through this T-shirt, the project aims to expand connections among people involved with Meidai, including current students, international students, alumni, faculty and staff, and local residents, while fostering affection for Meidai and building the university's brand.

Why are we, current university students, embarking on making T-shirts?
ââ
We are a team of current students from Nagoya University who participated in The Nagoya University Special training Program in Singapore (Spring) in March 2025. During our visit to NUS (National University of Singapore) as part of this program, we were deeply moved by a particular scene.â
â
Several of our members happily purchased NUS logo T-shirts (costing about 3,000 yen) at the souvenir shop and proudly wore them throughout the training. Also, on the NUS campus, we often saw students casually wearing university T-shirts in their daily lives. It was a sight that conveyed "a sense of pride in their university naturally integrated into their daily routines."â
On the other hand, what about Nagoya University?
Official T-shirts are still sold currently, but we rarely see students wearing them as everyday clothes, even though the price is reasonable at 1320 yen.â
â

We felt that the reasons for this go beyond just a "lack of design" or "lack of awareness." There's a more fundamental issue—the "brand awareness."â
â
Of course, Nagoya University is a wonderful educational and research institution. The faculty and staff warmly support the challenges of the students. However, how many students can proudly say, "I am truly proud of my university"?â
â
We want to love Nagoya University more and feel proud of it. And we want to create an opportunity for ourselves and others to think, "Meidai is great!" That is why we, as current university students, are taking on the challenge of making T-shirts.
ââ
These T-shirts are not just fashion items. We believe they will become a symbol that "visualizes" the pride of Nagoya University students and a new bridge connecting the university and its students. And that pride will surely not fade even after graduation. Years later, at alumni gatherings, we want to increase the number of people who can reminisce about their university days and think, "I'm so glad I went to that university."ââ

Message from Prof. Naoshi Sugiyama, President of Nagoya University
I am deeply pleased to see Nagoya University students striving to bring their school spirit to life in such a meaningful way, and I have high expectations for this initiative. The creation of T-shirts that our students, alumni, faculty, and staff can wear with pride and joy each day is of great significance. I sincerely hope that this project, together with the completed T-shirts, will further strengthen our collective sense of belonging to Nagoya University and deepen the pride we share in our alma mater. I warmly invite you to extend your support to the students as they take on this inspiring challenge.

A Warm Message from Takihyo Corporation and Kinkoâs Japan!ðž
Hello! Iâm Minami Nakamura, a member of the Meidai LinkT Project.
Weâre honored to have received a heartfelt joint message of support from
Takihyo Corporation and Kinkoâs Japan, who are partnering with us in our T-shirt project.
Based in Nagoya, Takihyo is a long-established textile trading company, and together with Kinkoâs,
they have kindly provided us with the sustainable fabric âROOPS,â
developed through their material recycling initiative âNO WASTE PROJECT.â
This time, we received a special message and photo from
Mr. Yasutomo Mori, from Takihyoâs Global Brand Group, Sustainable PR Team.
âWe are truly honored to accompany you in your challenge by providing our sustainable material âROOPS,â born from our material recycling scheme âNO WASTE PROJECT.â
Branding is, in essence, the act of expressing your unique identity and expanding empathy.
We believe your project beautifully conveys Nagoya Universityâs remarkable values and sense of unity through something as familiar as a T-shirt.
We look forward to seeing these T-shirts become a symbol of connection among students, alumni, and faculty members.â
Receiving such warm words from our corporate partners means a great deal to us.
Our mission is not just to make T-shirtsâ
but to continually ask ourselves:
âWhat does âNagoya spiritâ truly mean?â
âHow can we express connection and pride with our own hands?â
Having companies walk alongside us in this journey gives us immense strength and encouragement.
Weâll continue to move forward, inspired by their support!

Connecting Generations of Meidai â Sharing Pride and Connection at Homecoming Day
Hi, Iâm Miko Komatsu from the Meidai LinkT Project.
On October 18th, we took part in Nagoya Universityâs Homecoming Day â a special annual event where alumni return to campus to reconnect, attend talks, enjoy concerts at Toyota Auditorium, and celebrate shared memories of Nagoya University.
ð Our Activity
Amid the lively atmosphere, our team stood near the station, proudly holding up our T-shirts and introducing the project to alumni and students passing by.
Many stopped to chat, offering kind words and insightful advice such as:
âI didnât know such a project existed â thatâs amazing!â
âI love that students are leading this initiative!â
Through these direct conversations, we truly felt our message â pride and connection through T-shirts â being passed from person to person.
𧡠In Closing
This day reminded us how powerful Meidaiâs sense of community can be.
We hope our project continues to create more moments where people can say, âIâm proud to be part of Nagoya University.â

We held a sustainability learning session with Takihyo Corporation!
Hello! Iâm Miko Komatsu from the *Meidai LinkT Project* at Nagoya University.
On August 27, we held a study session with **Takihyo Corporation**, our partner company supporting the production of our project T-shirts.ãIt was an inspiring and insightful experience to learn directly from professionals working on the front lines of the textile and apparel industry.
ð¡About Takihyo Corporation
Headquartered in Nagoya, Takihyo is a long-established textile trading company engaged in everything from fabric development to apparel design, production, and sales, both in Japan and overseas.
They are not only helping us bring our T-shirt design to life but are also a strong partner who shares our commitment to "sustainability".
ðKey Learnings from the Session
1ïžâ£ Sustainability as a Growth Engine
Itâs not just corporate social responsibilityâitâs a new foundation for business growth and competitiveness.
2ïžâ£ Responsible Manufacturing
True âmonozukuriâ means taking responsibility across the entire supply chainâfrom materials to delivery.
3ïžâ£ Designing Everyday Sustainability
Sustainability should be seamlessly integrated into daily life, without sacrificing style or creativity.
ð±Looking Ahead
This session inspired us to give our T-shirts a meaning that goes beyond fashionâto create a piece that embodies *pride* and *connection* for everyone who wears it. Through this experience, we also felt that weâve grown as young changemakers contributing to a more sustainable future.
Weâll continue sharing our journey and learnings through our crowdfunding updates! âš

Celebrating Connection and Team Spirit â Linking Student Circles through âPride in Meidaiâ
Hi, Iâm Natsuki Murase from the Meidai LinkT Project.
We recently visited Nagoya University KAIODANBU (âRanmaâ), the universityâs vibrant Yosakoi dance team, to introduce our T-shirt project and film a short reel video together.
ð T-shirts à Yosakoi = Team Spirit
At Ranma, members have a long-standing tradition of wearing matching T-shirts during practices â a culture that deeply resonates with our projectâs mission to express connection and pride in Nagoya University through design.
We were touched by their warm encouragement and their words: âWeâd love to support your project!â
ð¥ The reel video we filmed is currently being edited and will be released soon on our official Instagram.
https://www.instagram.com/meidai_linkt_project
ðž After the shoot, we took a cheerful group photo â a moment that reminded us of the joy and energy that come from connecting through shared pride in Meidai.

The First Step to Expanding the LinkT Circle â Prototype T-shirts Completed!
Iâm Kanae Sugiyama, a member of the Meidai LinkT Project.
As part of our project activities, we recently printed 15 prototype T-shirts using the garment printer at âIdeaStoaâ, a creative lab located on Nagoya Universityâs campus.
It was my first time operating such a machine and printing T-shirts, so I was quite nervous (especially during the heat-press step!), but with guidance from the IdeaStoa staff, I managed to complete all 15 shirts safely after about three hours.
Of the 15 shirts, six have been sent to Singapore, our official project partner, and the remaining nine will be used for exhibitions and fitting sessions.
We hope many people will have a chance to see and touch these prototypes, and feel the sense of "connection" and "pride" that we wish to convey through the T-shirts.
Weâre excited to continue expanding the LinkT circle even further!
Thank you for your warm support ðž
