Singapore × Nagoya University Community Events !

Japan — May 17, 2025 — Nagoya University Global Campus Singapore (NUGC) organized a vibrant "Singapore × Nagoya University" community event in Nagoya, Japan, further strengthening bonds among students, faculty, and partner institutions.

The event brought together students from diverse faculties, including those preparing for the NUS International Summer Programs and NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC), along with faculty and staff from Nagoya University. Under the shared theme of “Singapore,” the gathering promoted cross-disciplinary collaboration and underscored the importance of global cooperation and community building.

A highlight was the first face-to-face meeting of three Nagoya University students preparing for six-month internships in Singapore through the NOC Inbound program. They were joined by peers from NUS, currently interning in Nagoya, fostering a supportive regional intern network.

Nagoya University 2025 NOC Inbound students came together and met face-to-face for the very first time. They were warmly joined by their NOC Nagoya peers, NUS students currently interning here in Nagoya

In addition, eleven Nagoya University students are scheduled to participate in NUS’s international summer programs, including the Regen Asia Summit (RAS) and the Asia Undergraduate Summit (AUS). Five students met at the event to exchange insights and strengthen connections before their upcoming journeys, which will officially begin with orientation on May 20.

5 of 11 RAS and AUS participants met up to connect and prepare for their upcoming adventures. The kick-off orientation on May 20 will officially launch their summer journey in Singapore!

Faculty participation was strong, featuring Dr. Emanuel Langat from the School of Engineering and Professors Akiko Ito and Akinari Hoshino from GMC. Their involvement inspired students beyond academics. A memorable moment was a reunion with a former student—motivated by a Singapore program led by Prof. Hoshino—who studied abroad at NUS and is now preparing for graduate studies, exemplifying the impactful growth within the NUGC community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated. We look forward to welcoming many more students and staff interested in Singapore at future events.
