Report on Nagoya University Singapore Spring Training Program 2025 "Eight Days to Develop Skills for Thriving in an Uncertain World"

From March 20 to 27, 2025, Nagoya University Global Campus (Singapore) hosted an eight-day Spring Training Program for 18 undergraduate students, mainly from the 2nd and 3rd years. The program aimed to broaden each student's perspectives and potential through a variety of real-world experiences under the theme, "Developing Skills to Thrive in an Uncertain World."

Expanding Career Horizons through Corporate Visits

Students visited leading companies such as Nippon Life Insurance (Singapore), Mitsubishi Electric Asia, Google Singapore, and A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research). Through office tours and dialogues with employees, they gained insights into the realities of working globally and building a career across cultures. Many students expressed that the experience inspired them to visualize their own future careers more concretely.

Deepening Cross-Cultural Understanding through Student Exchange

Interaction with students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) was another key highlight. Through campus tours and group discussions with NUS Japanese Studies Society (JSS) members and NUS College students, participants engaged in candid conversations about university life and cultural perspectives. They also attended a career talk session featuring Japanese exchange students and NOC program alumni studying in Singapore, gaining practical advice on studying abroad and career paths.

Building a Vision for the Future through Expert Lectures

Students attended lectures by professionals active in Singapore on topics including global career development, startups and entrepreneurship, economic and technological trends, and the globalization of Japanese companies. These sessions helped students not only acquire knowledge but also foster the mindset and skills needed to proactively design their own futures.

Results and Student Reflections

The post-program survey showed an exceptionally high satisfaction rating, with an average score of 4.9 out of 5. Many participants commented that they had gained "practical knowledge not taught at university" and felt motivated to "take on new challenges toward their future." Students expressed intentions to improve their English skills, prepare for studying abroad, deepen their understanding of global trends, and clarify their career visions.

The program became an invaluable opportunity for the students to discover the world, rediscover themselves, and cultivate the strength to take bold steps toward their futures.
